How to sell pet products on Kaspi: permission, veterinary drugs, pet food commission and shipping heavy bags

Pet products are a closed category on Kaspi.kz: permission first, storefront second. Sellers are expected to provide a supply contract, an invoice, proof of payment and an EAC certificate or declaration wherever the law requires one. Want to sell veterinary drugs? Then you'll also need a notification that you've started veterinary activity. Pet food and litter go at a reduced commission of 6.4% excluding VAT, everything else at 10.9%. On the other hand, you can't sell food in 12- and 24-month installments, and a 15 kg bag can eat your whole margin on delivery. Below, in order, with calculations.

In short

  • The «Товары для животных» (Pet products) section needs permission. The form appears in your account along with your first product.
  • For veterinary drugs, Kaspi asks for a notification that you've started veterinary activity.
  • Food, treats and litter: 6.4% excluding VAT (7.3% including VAT); accessories, the vet pharmacy and everything else: 10.9% excluding VAT (12.5% including VAT).
  • Food, treats and litter can't be sold in 12- and 24-month installments.
  • Live animals can't be sold on Kaspi.

Step 1. Category permission

In Kaspi's list of restricted categories, «Товары для животных» stands on its own and has its own document package (q2224, updated Oct 5, 2026):

  1. a supply contract or a contract with the manufacturer;
  2. an EAC certificate or declaration, if the law requires one for your product;
  3. an invoice;
  4. payment documents;
  5. a notification of starting or ending business activity in veterinary medicine, only if you sell drugs for animals.

Unlike children's products or dietary supplements, a state registration certificate isn't on this list. Kaspi may ask for the documents again, and forgery can lead to the store being disconnected.

Permission is refused for three reasons: an incomplete package, rule violations or fewer than 10 fulfilled orders in a month (q4810, updated Mar 16, 2026). If invoices are made out to another of your companies, add a contract between the companies, VAT invoices and a power of attorney (q5213, updated Aug 7, 2026).

Pet food brands can be on the restricted list too. For those you need at least 10 units of the brand and purchase documents no older than 90 days (q2618, updated Jul 10, 2026). Details are in our article on brand restrictions on Kaspi.

Step 2. Veterinary drugs: what the law requires

Flea drops, deworming tablets, vitamins for dogs: in Kaspi's tariffs all of these sit in the «Ветаптека» (vet pharmacy) subsection. Selling veterinary drugs is governed by the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On veterinary medicine» (law, adilet).

Article 13-1 lists activities that require notifying the authorities. Among them is selling medicines for veterinary use, biological products, and veterinary and zoohygienic items and attributes. The notification is filed before you start work, with the local executive body of the region, city of republican significance or the capital.

What paragraph 5 of the same article requires from the seller:

Who sells What's needed
Sole proprietor (individual) A degree in veterinary medicine, premises and equipment owned or held on another legal basis
LLP (legal entity) Staff with veterinary education, premises and equipment
Both The facility's registration number and documents for the premises; copies are attached to the notification

So you can't run a vet pharmacy «from a laptop»: without a vet on staff or your own degree you can't file the notification, and without the notification Kaspi won't grant permission for drugs. If you don't have such a person, it makes more sense to start with food and accessories. Those don't need a notification.

What's not allowed at all

Selling live animals on Kaspi is prohibited (q3904, updated Jan 16, 2026). That covers fish, birds and puppies, even if you're a pet shop with a physical store. The full list of bans is collected in our article on prohibited goods on Kaspi.

Step 3. Commission: where it's 6.4% and where it's 10.9%

Within the section Kaspi has two rates (Tariffs 2026, PDF).

What you sell Excl. VAT Incl. VAT
Dry and wet food for cats and dogs, food for rodents, birds, fish and reptiles 6.4% 7.3%
Treats for cats, dogs, rodents and birds 6.4% 7.3%
Litter, compound feed for farm animals 6.4% 7.3%
Vet pharmacy: drugs, vitamins, antiparasitics, collars, syringes 10.9% 12.5%
Everything else: harnesses and leashes, beds, toys, carriers, bowls 10.9% 12.5%

The gap between the rates is 4.5 percentage points excluding VAT. On food with a thin margin that's noticeable: mixing up the rate in your calculation means getting the minimum price wrong. The commission is refunded if an order is cancelled (q1344, updated Jan 6, 2026). The general commission rules are described in our article on Kaspi commission for sellers.

Installments

Exactly the same goods that go at 6.4% can't be sold in 12- and 24-month installments: food, treats, litter and compound feed (q4659, updated Jun 9, 2026). The ban doesn't cover beds, carriers, scratching posts or the vet pharmacy. How installments work for sellers is explained in our article on 0-0-24 installments on Kaspi.

Step 4. Delivery: where pet food loses its margin

Pet food is heavy, and Kaspi Delivery tariffs for orders of 10,000 ₸ or more are based on weight (q2288, updated Jun 16, 2026). Prices exclude VAT; they're charged to your account with 16% VAT.

Order weight Within the city Within Kazakhstan
up to 5 kg 1,099 ₸ 1,299 ₸
5–15 kg 1,349 ₸ 1,699 ₸
15–30 kg 2,299 ₸ 3,599 ₸
30–60 kg 2,899 ₸ 5,649 ₸

Look at the 15–30 kg row. Within Kazakhstan, crossing 15 kg doubles the tariff, from 1,699 to 3,599 ₸. A 15 kg bag of food sits right on the boundary, and with packaging it can tip over. Kaspi charges delivery once the order gets the «Выдан» (Delivered) status.

Cat litter is the same story: people buy 10–12 kg packs two or three at a time, and the order moves into the next weight step. More on tariffs in our article on Kaspi Delivery for sellers.

Where to take heavy orders

Not every Kaspi drop-off point will take a 30 kg order. Points have size and weight limits, and if an order exceeds them it simply won't be accepted (q3047, updated Jan 22, 2026). A point's limits are visible on the map: tap the red dot that marks it. Its opening hours are there too.

Timing matters as well. An order placed before 12:00 is handed over between 10:00 and 16:00; after 12:00, between 10:00 and 20:00. Missed it? Take it the next day on the same schedule. If you ship food by the pallet once a day, check in advance which nearby point accepts heavy parcels, so you don't waste a day on a pointless trip.

A torn bag and a claim

A bag of food isn't a box; it tears against neighbouring parcels. If goods are packed incorrectly, Kaspi may refuse compensation for damage (q2296, updated Nov 5, 2025). Kaspi gives packaging requirements by category in an instruction linked from the same Guide article.

If it gets torn anyway, file the claim on time: 10 calendar days within the city and 45 within Kazakhstan, counting from the day you or the buyer received the damaged goods (q2306, updated Nov 25, 2025). If there's no damage note in the return certificate, you have just 24 hours and need photos or video. Compensation depends on the extent of the damage:

What happened Compensation
The product looks intact, but the branded packaging is damaged or missing 10%
The back or sides are damaged but the product looks intact, or components are missing 30%
The front is damaged, the product no longer looks sellable, or key parts are missing 100%

For pet food this means something simple: a slightly torn bag with nothing spilled is more likely to land in the first row than the last. So it's better to wrap heavy bags in an extra thick bag or film. We covered how to pack orders properly in our article on packaging for Kaspi Delivery.

Calculating the minimum price for a bag of food

A hypothetical example, not a client case. Dry dog food, a 15 kg bag, purchase cost 18,000 ₸, price 24,000 ₸. Commission of 7.3% including VAT is 1,752 ₸. We don't count packaging: the bag ships in the factory packaging.

Delivery option Delivery incl. VAT Left from the sale
Within the city, up to 15 kg 1,565 ₸ 2,683 ₸
Within the city, over 15 kg 2,667 ₸ 1,581 ₸
Within Kazakhstan, up to 15 kg 1,971 ₸ 2,277 ₸
Within Kazakhstan, over 15 kg 4,175 ₸ 73 ₸

Minimum price = (Purchase cost + Delivery + Packaging) ÷ (1 − Commission incl. VAT)

Within the city at up to 15 kg: (18,000 + 1,565) ÷ 0.927 ≈ 21,106 ₸. If the order moves into the 15–30 kg step: (18,000 + 2,667) ÷ 0.927 ≈ 22,295 ₸. And within Kazakhstan in the heavy step: (18,000 + 4,175) ÷ 0.927 ≈ 23,922 ₸. Same bag, same 24,000 ₸ price, and in the last case you keep 73 ₸ from the sale.

Two conclusions follow. First, check that the weight on the card and in the order matches the real weight. Second, if you sell across Kazakhstan, set the minimum price for the most expensive scenario or set different prices by city. How to do that is explained in our article on different prices by city on Kaspi.

Step 5. The pet product card

For pet food, buyers look for three things first: who it's for (cat, dog, puppy, senior animal), the flavour and the pack weight. All of this belongs in the attributes, not just on the packaging photo.

If a food comes in 2, 7 and 15 kg packs, you can put them on one card when the brand, category and main attributes match (q5146, updated Jul 23, 2026). The buyer switches weight right on the page, and you don't spread your reviews across three cards.

Main attributes can't be changed once the card is more than a month old (q3554, updated Feb 23, 2026). Fix a mistake like «for adult cats» instead of «for kittens» in the first weeks. More on setting up a card in our article on how to create a product card on Kaspi.

Common mistakes when selling pet products on Kaspi

  1. A vet pharmacy without a notification. Drugs without a veterinary activity notification won't pass, either under the law or under Kaspi's rules.
  2. One commission rate for everything. Food is 7.3% including VAT, but a collar is already 12.5%. Using one rate breaks the minimum price.
  3. Relying on installments for food. There are no 12- and 24-month installments on food and litter, so don't advertise them in the description.
  4. Weight on a step boundary. A 15 kg bag plus a wrapping bag, and the tariff is already 15–30 kg.
  5. One price for the whole country. Delivery within Kazakhstan in the heavy step costs almost twice the city rate.
  6. Trying to sell live fish or birds. Live animals are prohibited on Kaspi.
