You can sell building materials on Kaspi without a separate permission: the «Строительство, ремонт» (Construction and renovation) section is not a restricted category, and the commission is 12.5% including VAT. In this niche sellers lose money not on the commission but on weight. While an order is under 10,000 ₸, Kaspi Delivery (Kaspi's own delivery service) charges by order sum; from 10,000 ₸ it charges by kilograms. That's why one bag of tile adhesive ships for 231 ₸, while three of the same bags to another city cost almost 10,000 ₸.
In short
- Laminate, adhesive, foam, drywall and wallpaper share one rate: 10.9% excluding VAT, 12.5% including VAT.
- The weight-based tariff starts at an order sum of 10,000 ₸, and for heavy cheap goods that is the main risk.

What «Construction and renovation» covers and what Kaspi charges
In Kaspi's 2026 tariffs, building materials are spread across several subcategories of «Строительство, ремонт»: «Строительные материалы» (Building materials: dry mixes, insulation, rolled metal, sheet materials, mounting foams and sealants), «Отделочные материалы» (Finishing materials: wallpaper, panels, laminate, linoleum, skirting boards), «Плитка» (Tiles) and tile-laying supplies. The rate is the same everywhere: 10.9% excluding VAT and 12.5% including VAT (Tariffs 2026, PDF). If an order is cancelled, the commission is refunded (q1344, updated Jan 6, 2026).
No permission is needed for the section. The list of restricted categories includes «Аптека» (Pharmacy), «Детские товары» (Kids' goods), «Красота и здоровье» (Beauty and health), «Украшения» (Jewelry) and a few other sections, but not construction (q2224, updated Oct 5, 2026; list of restricted categories, PDF). Check brands separately: well-known brands of mixes and sealants may be on the restricted brands list, and then Kaspi will ask for a letter from the rights holder or a contract, invoices and proof of payment for 90 days, at least 10 units (q2618, updated Jul 10, 2026). Electrical goods, by the way, sit in the same section at the same rate. But cable and wire have a paperwork quirk: «кабели, провода и шнуры» (cables, wires and cords) are named directly in the list of TR CU 004/2011, and the conformity form for it is certification (TR CU 004/2011). How Kaspi Delivery prices a heavy order
Two scales in one tariff
The Kaspi Delivery tariff since Jan 1, 2026 has two parts (q2288, updated Jun 16, 2026). If the order sum is below 10,000 ₸, the price depends only on the sum and weight doesn't matter. At 10,000 ₸ and above, it's by weight. The figures below already include 16% VAT: Kaspi's page lists them without VAT, but your account is charged with the tax.

For ordinary goods, crossing 10,000 ₸ means plus or minus a thousand tenge. For a 25 kg bag of mix it's a cliff. A buyer who takes one bag for 3,900 ₸ costs you 231 ₸ in delivery. One who takes three bags for 11,700 ₸ is already in the 60–100 kg range.
Dimensions and the pickup point
The second limit is physical. Every Kaspi pickup point has its own size and weight limits, which you can see on the map by clicking the point. An order bigger than allowed won't be accepted (q3047, updated Jan 22, 2026). A 2.5 m drywall sheet, a 3 m profile or a 3 m wide linoleum roll should be checked against the map first, and only then listed.
An item made of several parts can be shipped in several boxes. Each is packed separately, each gets its own waybill, and the number of pieces is entered in the order. If you entered one piece but brought two, the second may be refused (q3043, updated Aug 22, 2024).
The math: what's left from a bag, foam and laminate
The figures below are our example, not a client's store: purchase costs and weights are illustrative, and taxes are left out. We take the commission at 12.5% and delivery including VAT from the table above. A bag of adhesive weighs 25 kg; a pack of laminate weighs 9 kg and holds 2 m².

Minimum price = (Purchase cost + Delivery + Packing) ÷ (1 − 0.125)
By the formula, three bags of adhesive to another city can't be sold cheaper than (7,200 + 9,917) ÷ 0.875 ≈ 19,562 ₸, which is about 6,520 ₸ per bag instead of 3,900 ₸. At that price you won't sell anything against competitors. The honest conclusion: heavy dry mixes don't work through Kaspi Delivery to other cities. They are delivered within your own city by your own delivery or handed over through pickup.
Laminate: 545 ₸ per room
Nine packs of laminate, about 18 m², sent to a neighboring city leave you 545 ₸ from a 67,500 ₸ order. That's less than one percent. Any discount or a single returned pack pushes the order into the red. Within your own city the same order gives 5,649 ₸, and the whole difference is delivery: 9,917 versus 4,813 ₸.
Hence a practical rule for finishing materials. If you keep one price for all of Kazakhstan, build it from the minimum price for delivery to another city. What the 100 kg tier changes
Above 100 kg the tariff jumps again: 7,481 ₸ within the city and 13,919 ₸ across Kazakhstan. Thirteen packs of laminate (117 kg) for 97,500 ₸ to another city leave 1,193 ₸. Twelve packs (108 kg) are also over 100 kg. Eleven (99 kg), however, still fit into 60–100 kg. If the pack weight in the card is wrong, you may not notice that large orders have long been losing money.
The product card: packs, square meters and weight
Kaspi links a product to a product card (the single shared listing that all sellers of the item join) by its main attributes (q3554, updated Feb 23, 2026). For building materials that's the pack size: a 5 kg bag and a 25 kg bag are different cards, and so is laminate of a different class or thickness. Products can be merged only if their main attributes match (q5146, updated Jul 23, 2026).
What to put in the description so the buyer doesn't get the quantity wrong:
- how many square meters are in a pack of laminate or tiles, and how many pieces are inside;
- mix consumption per square meter at the stated layer thickness;
- sheet size and thickness for drywall and panels;
- shelf life for mixes, foam and sealants.
Buyers usually count meters, while you sell packs. If the card title doesn't say «2 m² per pack», a person will order eight packs instead of nine and then buy one more, which is another delivery. More on card structure in the article how to create a product card on Kaspi.
Enter the real pack weight in the seller cabinet, with the pallet or film if that's how you ship. The weight tariff is calculated for the whole order, and a half-kilo error per pack across ten packs is already 5 kg, sometimes a whole tier.
Returns: goods sold by the meter and defects
The consumer protection law lets a buyer return a non-food item of proper quality within 14 days if it hasn't been used and has kept its appearance. But the exceptions list directly names goods sold by the meter: fabrics, carpets, non-woven materials, ribbons, wires, cords, cables, linoleum, moldings, film and oilcloth (Law of the RK No. 274-IV, article 30, para. 1, subpara. 5).
For a building materials seller this means the following. Linoleum cut to length, film and cable sold by the meter can't be returned "just because". Laminate in whole packs isn't a by-the-meter good; it's a piece good, and the buyer may return an unopened pack within 14 days. If your card says «laminate, price per m²» but you sell packs, don't confuse the buyer: they'll be returning packs.
Defects are a separate story. Goods that don't meet technical regulations or are past their shelf life can be returned within 30 days regardless of appearance (same article, para. 1-1). For mixes and foam, shelf life is a common reason. Packing and damage in transit
Kaspi may refuse compensation for damage if the item was packed incorrectly (q2296, updated Nov 5, 2025). The packing guide requires fixing the item inside, filling empty space and taping the waybill on top of the packaging with two strips of tape (How to pack goods for Kaspi Delivery, PDF).
In practice, building materials have three weak spots. A paper bag of mix tears at the corners, so it goes into a plastic bag or stretch wrap. Tiles chip at the edges: packs are stood on edge rather than laid flat, with cardboard between them. Cans of foam and sealant must not be left loose in a box, or they'll hit the neighboring goods.
If damage does happen, a claim to Kaspi Delivery is filed within 10 days within the city and 45 days across Kazakhstan. Compensation is 10%, 30% or 100% depending on the degree of damage (q2306, updated Nov 25, 2025). A tile chipped at the edge with intact packaging may fall into 10% rather than 100%, so packing is cheaper than a claim.
Common mistakes when selling building materials on Kaspi
- One price for heavy goods across Kazakhstan. Nine packs of laminate to another city leave 545 ₸ instead of 5,649 ₸ within the city.
- Not calculating an order of several bags. One bag of adhesive gives 781 ₸; three bags to another city give minus 6,879 ₸.
- Inaccurate weight in the cabinet. Over ten packs, a half-kilo error moves the order up a tier.
- Not checking pickup point dimensions. The point won't accept a long profile or a wide roll, and you'll have to deliver it yourself or cancel.
- Price per m² while selling packs. The buyer under-orders, buys more later, and you pay for a second delivery.
- Unprotected bags. A torn bag means a dispute with the buyer and dirty neighboring orders.
- Old mixes in stock. The buyer will return expired goods within 30 days.
Checklist: building materials on Kaspi
- [ ] Brands of mixes and sealants checked against the restricted brands list.
- [ ] A TR CU 004/2011 certificate obtained from the supplier for cable and wire.
- [ ] A 5 kg bag and a 25 kg bag listed as separate cards, weight entered with packaging.
- [ ] Laminate and wallpaper descriptions show m² per pack; mixes show consumption and shelf life.
- [ ] The minimum price is calculated for an order of three bags, not one.
- [ ] You know at which pack the order crosses 10,000 ₸ and 100 kg.
- [ ] Your own delivery or pickup is enabled for heavy items.
- [ ] Long profiles and wide rolls checked against pickup point limits.
The last two items matter more than they seem. If you aren't ready to deliver bags yourself, it's better not to enable Kaspi Delivery to other cities for them at all: such orders will cost you more than you earn from them. Do I need Kaspi's permission to sell building materials?
Not for the section itself — «Construction and renovation» isn't on the restricted categories list. What you should check is the brand. If your sealant or mix comes from a brand on the restricted list, Kaspi will ask for a letter from the rights holder or a contract with them, plus invoices.
What commission does Kaspi charge on building materials?
The same as for the rest of renovation: 12.5% including VAT, 10.9% excluding VAT. A bag of adhesive, a roll of wallpaper, a pack of laminate and a can of foam all go at one rate, so the margin difference comes only from delivery.
How does Kaspi calculate delivery for heavy building materials?
While the order is under 10,000 ₸, weight doesn't matter: a 25 kg bag for 3,900 ₸ ships for 231 ₸. As soon as the sum reaches 10,000 ₸, Kaspi looks at kilograms. A 60–100 kg order from Almaty to Karaganda will cost 9,917 ₸ including VAT.
Can drywall be shipped through Kaspi Delivery?
Sometimes, but a 2.5 meter sheet is accepted far from everywhere. Size and weight limits differ between pickup points, and Kaspi shows them on the map. We wouldn't risk it: drywall and profiles are easier to deliver in your own vehicle or hand over from the warehouse.
How do I calculate the minimum price for building materials?
Calculate for the order that actually comes in. Say three bags of adhesive go to Pavlodar. Purchase cost 7,200 ₸, delivery 9,917 ₸, together 17,117 ₸. Divided by 0.875, that's about 19,562 ₸ for the whole order, or about 6,520 ₸ per bag. If you calculated for one bag, you'd get 3,007 ₸ and set a price that loses you money.
Why are three bags of mix less profitable than one?
Let's count. Three bags at 3,900 ₸ are 11,700 ₸ and 75 kg, which means the weight tariff already applies. To another city, delivery of 9,917 ₸ eats everything, and you get minus 6,879 ₸. With one bag you'd have earned 781 ₸.
Can linoleum bought on Kaspi be returned?
A cut piece without defects — no. Article 30 of the consumer protection law classes linoleum, film, carpeting and cable as goods sold by the meter, and they aren't returned if they are of proper quality. Defects are another story: the buyer will return such a roll.
