On Kaspi a carpet counts as home textiles: 12.5% with VAT, and no permission is needed for the category. The money here is lost on weight. A packed carpet came out at 16 kg instead of 14 — and delivery to another city is no longer 1,971 ₸ but 4,175 ₸. There are also things sellers only discover after launch. A couple of carpet brands are closed without documents. And prayer rugs exist in Kaspi's tariffs, even though they are also mentioned in the list of prohibited goods. Below is a breakdown and five carpets worked out in tenge.
In short
- Carpets, runners, doormats, underlays and wall-to-wall carpet share one rate: 12.5%, or 10.9% without VAT.
- ALFACARPET, Linea Hali, IKEA and Zara Home need brand documents.
- Kaspi Delivery (Kaspi's own courier service) doesn't carry wall-to-wall carpet. A roll longer than 3 m may also raise questions.
- Cross 15 kg — and instead of 1,971 ₸ to the regions you pay 4,175 ₸.
- The law doesn't oblige you to take back carpet goods sold by the metre if they are of proper quality.
Which carpets are on Kaspi and how much Kaspi takes
Carpets live in «Товары для дома и дачи → Домашний текстиль → Ковры и ковровые дорожки» (Home and garden → Home textiles → Carpets and runners). We checked the subcategories against the 2026 tariffs (Tariffs 2026, PDF).
| Subcategory | Section | Without VAT | With VAT | Category permission |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Carpets | Home textiles | 10.9% | 12.5% | no |
| Carpet runners | Home textiles | 10.9% | 12.5% | no |
| Prayer rugs | Home textiles | 10.9% | 12.5% | no, but see below |
| Doormats | Home textiles | 10.9% | 12.5% | no |
| Carpet underlays and grippers | Home textiles | 10.9% | 12.5% | no |
| Carpet covers | Home textiles | 10.9% | 12.5% | no |
| Wall-to-wall carpet | Construction, renovation → Floor coverings | 10.9% | 12.5% | no |
Carpets are not on the restricted categories list (PDF). Bath mats sit elsewhere, in «Хозяйственные товары» (Household goods), and car mats are in auto goods. The rate there is the same, but buyers look for them in a different catalogue. We covered throws, pillows and curtains in home textiles on Kaspi; here we talk only about carpets.
Prayer rugs: there is a tariff, but they are also named among the bans
This is the main oddity of the section. The tariffs have a «Молитвенные коврики» (Prayer rugs) subcategory with the usual rate. At the same time, Kaspi's list of prohibited goods has an item on goods for religious rites, with an example in brackets: «Литература, молитвенные коврики и т.д.» ("Literature, prayer rugs, etc.") (q3904, updated Jan 16, 2026).
Kaspi doesn't explain how one fits with the other. We wouldn't buy a batch until Kaspi support answers in writing whether your store may sell such rugs. Keep the answer. If the card is removed, the correspondence will help sort it out faster.
Brands that need documents
On the restricted brands list as of Nov 5, 2026 we found ALFACARPET and Linea Hali. IKEA and Zara Home are there too, and both also sell carpets and mats. If you resell any of these, get a brand permission first.
Kaspi accepts these documents (q2618, updated Jul 10, 2026): a letter from the rights holder, a purchase contract, invoices and payment for the last 90 days. The second option is buying on the brand's official website, with receipts in the director's name, no older than 60 days. Either way you need at least 10 units of the brand. We covered how to apply in brand restriction on Kaspi.
A carpet "like a famous brand" without documents is a separate story. Kaspi bans counterfeits and replicas entirely, as well as used goods (q3904). A carpet after dry cleaning, even a very good one, is still used goods for Kaspi.
Documents and labelling under TR CU 017/2011
Carpets fall under the technical regulation on the safety of light industry products (TR CU 017/2011). But it has an important caveat. The regulation names "machine-made carpet coverings and products". Handmade carpets are not named directly in this list, so for them we would check the document scheme with a certification body.
Which document you need
The regulation assigns machine-made carpets to declaration. There are three schemes: 3d, 4d and 6d. A declaration under 3d and 6d is valid for up to five years, under 4d — up to three. The buyer won't see it, but an inspection will ask for it. Ask the supplier for a copy and look at the date.
What must be on the label
Article 9 is stricter. A carpet label states the type of raw material and its share, and for carpets the share is counted by pile, not by backing. The tolerance is five percent either way. "100% wool" on a blended pile is already a labelling violation. And one more figure from Article 8: the dye must hold at least 3 points.
The takeaway for the card is simple: the composition in the specifications must match the label. A buyer who ordered "wool" and sees polypropylene on the label will write a review before filing a return.
Delivery: 3 metres, 70 cm and 20 kg
A carpet is almost always a large item. We put together the rules from three Kaspi documents.
What can't be sent with Kaspi Delivery
Wall-to-wall carpet is named directly in the list of goods Kaspi Delivery doesn't carry (PDF). You'll have to ship it with your own delivery; how to set that up is in my delivery on Kaspi.
There is no separate line for carpets, but there are general rules at the end of the same document. Restrictions may apply to items with dimensions over 3 metres, items heavier than 250 kg and orders of more than 10 large units. A 3×4 m carpet rolled along the short side gives a roll 3 metres long. A 4×5 m carpet — already 4 metres. We would first send such sizes as a single order and see whether the drop-off point accepts it.
How to pack
Kaspi treats anything longer than 70 cm on any side or heavier than 20 kg as a large item (how to pack an item, PDF). Each unit is packed separately and gets its own waybill. For large items Kaspi recommends five-ply corrugated board. A roll in a single layer of film without a rigid base can get crushed during loading, and with improper packaging a damage claim may be refused.
Two carpets in an order — two pieces. A carpet with an underlay — also two. As many pieces, as many waybills, and you enter the number of pieces yourself (q3043, updated Aug 22, 2024). Kaspi advises everyone to film the packing. A carpet seller needs it more than most: a dispute about a pulled thread in the pile can't be settled without a recording.
Postomat
A carpet almost never fits into a Kaspi Postomat (parcel locker). The largest cell, L, is 296×438×452 mm (q2915, updated Jul 23, 2024). A rolled doormat will fit; a 2×3 m carpet won't, and the courier delivers it in person.
The math: a doormat, four carpets and the 15 kg line
Conditional example, not a client case: prices and purchase costs are made up, taxes are not included. Delivery tariffs are from q2288 (updated Jun 16, 2026), valid from Jan 1, 2026, plus 16% VAT. While the order is under 10,000 ₸, you pay by order amount. Above that — by weight. Three steps matter for carpets: 5–15 kg — 1,565 ₸ within the city and 1,971 ₸ to the regions, 15–30 kg — 2,667 and 4,175 ₸, 30–60 kg — 3,363 and 6,553 ₸.
| Item | Weight | Where | Price | Commission 12.5% | Purchase cost | Packaging | Delivery | Left over |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Doormat | light | any | 3,900 ₸ | 488 ₸ | 1,600 ₸ | 100 ₸ | 231 ₸ | 1,481 ₸ |
| Doormat | light | another city | 5,400 ₸ | 675 ₸ | 1,600 ₸ | 100 ₸ | 927 ₸ | 2,098 ₸ |
| Carpet 160×230 | 6 kg | city | 24,000 ₸ | 3,000 ₸ | 14,000 ₸ | 500 ₸ | 1,565 ₸ | 4,935 ₸ |
| Carpet 160×230 | 6 kg | another city | 24,000 ₸ | 3,000 ₸ | 14,000 ₸ | 500 ₸ | 1,971 ₸ | 4,529 ₸ |
| Carpet 200×300 | 13 kg | another city | 52,000 ₸ | 6,500 ₸ | 33,000 ₸ | 700 ₸ | 1,971 ₸ | 9,829 ₸ |
| Carpet 250×350 | 16 kg | city | 68,000 ₸ | 8,500 ₸ | 43,000 ₸ | 900 ₸ | 2,667 ₸ | 12,933 ₸ |
| Carpet 250×350 | 16 kg | another city | 68,000 ₸ | 8,500 ₸ | 43,000 ₸ | 900 ₸ | 4,175 ₸ | 11,425 ₸ |
| Carpet 300×400 | 24 kg | another city | 98,000 ₸ | 12,250 ₸ | 64,000 ₸ | 1,000 ₸ | 4,175 ₸ | 16,575 ₸ |
Minimum price: (purchase cost + delivery + packaging) ÷ (1 − rate). A 250×350 carpet to another city: (43,000 + 4,175 + 900) ÷ 0.875 ≈ 54,943 ₸. A 200×300 carpet to the same place: (33,000 + 1,971 + 700) ÷ 0.875 ≈ 40,767 ₸.
The 15 kg line
Compare two rows. The 13 kg 200×300 carpet travels to the regions for 1,971 ₸, while the 16 kg 250×350 one costs 4,175 ₸. Three kilograms of difference, and 2,204 ₸ on top. Jute backing and dense pile weigh more than the price list promises, so you need scales in the warehouse. Went over 15 kg because of the box? Try film with cardboard corners.
The doormat and the 5,000 ₸ line
Here it's the other way round. A doormat at 3,900 ₸ leaves 1,481 ₸, at 5,400 ₸ to the regions — 2,098 ₸. A 1,500 ₸ markup covered the delivery increase from 231 to 927 ₸. The 5,000 ₸ threshold hurts the margin only when the price step is small. If you want to raise a doormat from 4,900 to 5,100 ₸, do the math: two hundred tenge of markup won't cover almost 700 ₸ of extra delivery.
Large carpets and commission
On a 300×400 carpet the commission is 12,250 ₸, and the store keeps 16,575 ₸. What matters here is not selling below the minimum price in the chase for first place on the product card (the single shared listing where all sellers of an item compete). More on not going into the red in how not to sell at a loss on Kaspi.
The carpet card and returns
Size, shape, pile material, pile height, backing — these are what buyers filter carpets by. Once a card is more than a month old, the main specifications can no longer be changed (q3554, updated Feb 23, 2026). So we check size and composition before publishing. Different sizes of one model can be merged into one card through a request: Kaspi will suggest items of the same category and brand (q3146, updated Sep 28, 2026).
Carpet returns have a quirk. Under Kaspi's general rule, a buyer can return goods of proper quality within 14 days if their presentation is preserved, and defective goods within 30 days (q2269, updated Sep 21, 2026). But Article 30 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Consumer Protection" makes an exception for goods sold by the metre and explicitly names carpet products among them (Consumer Protection Law). Our reading is this: a runner you cut to the customer's length falls under the exception, while a ready-made 2×3 carpet does not. Among Kaspi's reasons for refusing a return there is the option «товар не подлежит возврату» ("the item is not subject to return") referring to the same article (q5283, updated Sep 22, 2026). Just note that if you refuse systematically, Kaspi may restrict the store. More on returns in returns on Kaspi for sellers.
Damaged in transit — file a claim. Within the city you have 10 days, across Kazakhstan 45 (q2306, updated Nov 25, 2025). Kaspi reimburses 10%, 30% or the full amount, depending on what happened to the carpet.
Common mistakes in selling carpets on Kaspi
- ALFACARPET or Linea Hali without a permission. The card won't pass, and if it does, it will be removed.
- Weight taken from the price list. But the packed carpet weighs 16 kg, not 14, and that's 2,204 ₸ more to the regions.
- Wall-to-wall carpet handed to Kaspi Delivery. It doesn't take it; you need your own delivery.
- Nobody measured a roll over 3 metres. Such an order may not be accepted.
- Prayer rugs bought without asking support. They are mentioned in the list of bans.
- One composition on the card, another on the label. That's both a labelling issue and a bad review.
- A carpet after dry cleaning or "like the brand's". Used goods and replicas are banned on Kaspi.
Checklist before launching carpets
People buy carpets for renovations and ahead of the cold, so we would go through this list before the season, not at its peak.
- [ ] Brands checked against the list, IKEA and Zara Home too.
- [ ] Support answered in writing about prayer rugs.
- [ ] The supplier has an EAEU declaration for machine-made carpets, and it hasn't expired.
- [ ] The pile on the card and on the label is the same.
- [ ] Every size weighed in its packaging; items around 15 and 30 kg recalculated.
- [ ] For carpets from 3×4 m — the roll length measured.
- [ ] Your own delivery set up for wall-to-wall carpet.
- [ ] The minimum price is calculated with delivery to the regions.
- [ ] We film the packing.

How to automate prices on carpets
On a popular 200×300 carpet card, prices can move several times a day, and for heavy carpets the minimum price depends heavily on the delivery tariff. The SaleScout Kaspi bot checks prices from 20 seconds and never goes below the minimum price you set. For carpets heavier than 15 kg, set it with delivery to another city in mind, then the bot won't hold first place at a price where an order to the regions brings almost nothing. When a competitor raises their price or leaves the card, the bot raises yours too. You can try the bot for 7 days free, no card needed.
Frequently asked questions about selling carpets on Kaspi
What commission does Kaspi charge on carpets?
12.5% with VAT and 10.9% without VAT. Carpet runners, doormats, underlays and wall-to-wall carpet have the same rate.
Do I need a permission to sell carpets on Kaspi?
Not for the category — carpets are not on the restricted list. But you will need a permission for the ALFACARPET, Linea Hali, IKEA and Zara Home brands.
Can I sell prayer rugs on Kaspi?
There is a subcategory in the tariffs. But in the list of prohibited goods Kaspi mentions prayer rugs among goods for religious rites. Before buying, we would get a written answer from support.
Can wall-to-wall carpet be sent with Kaspi Delivery?
No, wall-to-wall carpet is on the list of goods Kaspi Delivery doesn't carry. You need your own delivery or pickup.
How much does delivering a carpet to another city cost?
It depends on the weight of the packed carpet. Up to 15 kg — 1,971 ₸, from 15 to 30 kg — 4,175 ₸, from 30 to 60 kg — 6,553 ₸, if the order is from 10,000 ₸.
Can I refuse a return of a carpet runner?
If the runner was sold by the metre and there's nothing wrong with it — the law allows it: Article 30 excludes carpet products sold by the metre. This doesn't apply to defective goods.
How do I calculate the minimum price for a carpet?
Add up the purchase cost, delivery and packaging and divide by 0.875. For a 250×350 carpet to another city: (43,000 + 4,175 + 900) ÷ 0.875 ≈ 54,943 ₸.
