Sports nutrition on Kaspi is almost entirely behind a permission: protein, gainers, BCAA, creatine and pre-workouts sit on the list of restricted categories. The commission is the usual one for the «Спорт, туризм» (Sports, tourism) section — 12.5% with VAT. But the niche has two exceptions we only found when cross-checking the tariffs. A protein bar sits in «Продукты питания» (Food) and costs 7.3%. And post-workout complexes and shakers are not on the restricted list. Below — what you need for the permission, where state registration comes in, and why a 4.5 kg tub of gainer is priced in delivery like a 15 kg item.

What counts as sports nutrition on Kaspi and what it costs
We went through the subcategories in the 2026 tariffs (Tariffs 2026, PDF) and cross-checked them with the list of restricted categories (PDF).

Fat burners are on the restricted list, but we didn't find a separate subcategory with that name in the tariffs. So they live in one of the neighbouring subcategories, and you need a permission for them anyway.
Why did we separate sports nutrition from vitamins? Vitamins, dietary supplements and fish oil sit in «Аптека» (Pharmacy), and we have a separate breakdown of them — vitamins and supplements on Kaspi. Category permission: which documents Kaspi asks for
For restricted categories in the «Спорт, туризм» block, Kaspi lists the same package (q2224, updated Oct 5, 2026):
- a supply agreement or a contract with the manufacturing plant;
- an EAEU certificate or declaration of conformity, if the law requires them;
- a state registration certificate, if one is required;
- a waybill;
- payment documents.
Kaspi may ask for the documents again, even after the permission has been granted. For forged papers the store can be disconnected. We would keep a folder for each batch: the agreement, the waybill, the payment and a copy of the SGR for each product, not just for the brand.
State registration under TR CU 021/2011
Let's open Article 24 of the regulation on food safety (TR CU 021/2011). There, nutrition for athletes is called specialised products, next to baby food and dietary supplements. It may be produced, stored, transported and sold only after state registration. The SGR has no expiry date, although the registration can be suspended or terminated.
The regulation's definition covers products "of a specified chemical composition, increased nutritional value and (or) targeted effectiveness". It sounds vague, but in practice protein, gainer or BCAA almost always fall under it. Registration is issued for a product, not a brand, and the details are entered into the unified register of specialised food products (Article 26 of the same regulation). Check the product name on the tub against the register, not just the brand.
What about brands?
On the list of restricted brands as of Nov 5, 2026 we didn't find major sports nutrition brands. We checked Optimum Nutrition, MyProtein, Scitec Nutrition, BioTech USA and Maxler. But it's too early to relax: Kaspi bans fakes and replicas entirely (q3904, updated Jan 16, 2026). It's better to buy from an official distributor, with an agreement that will later go into the permission package.
Bars at 7.3%: where the gain is and where the trap is
A protein bar resembles sports nutrition in composition, but in Kaspi's tariffs it sits in «Продукты питания → Сладости и выпечка» (Food → Sweets and pastries). The rate is 7.3% with VAT and 6.4% without VAT. On a box of 12 bars this is noticeable; the math is below.
The catch is the card. Create it in «Спортивное питание» (Sports nutrition) — and the commission will be 12.5%. Choose the category right away, when creating it. On how cards work — how to create a product card on Kaspi.
Shakers and bottles are simpler: no permission, 12.5% rate. While the protein documents are in progress, you can start with them.
Delivery: tub weight, 5 kg and liquids
The Kaspi Delivery tariff for orders from 10,000 ₸ is calculated by weight (q2288, updated Jun 16, 2026). For sports nutrition the first line matters — 5 kg.
Gainer and protein in big tubs
A gainer tub shows the net weight, for example 4.5 kg. Add the tub itself, the box and the filler, and you are past 5 kg. The tariff to another city changes from 1,507 to 1,971 ₸. Protein in a 2.27 kg tub doesn't reach this line. But two such tubs in one order do.
Isotonics and bottle packs
The Kaspi Delivery restrictions list has a general rule: restrictions may apply to liquids over 5 litres (PDF). A pack of 12 bottles of isotonic at 0.5 l is 6 litres. Kaspi doesn't explain whether such a pack counts, so we would first send one order and see whether the drop-off point accepts it.
Packaging
Tubs of powder are packed so they don't rattle around in the box (how to pack an item, PDF). A cracked lid or an opened seal is a reason for a return, and with incorrect packaging a delivery claim may be refused. Kaspi advises filming the packing, and for expensive tubs we would always do it.
The math: creatine, BCAA, protein, gainer, bars, shaker
Conditional example, not a client case: purchase costs and prices are made up, we didn't count taxes. Delivery is at Kaspi tariffs from Jan 1, 2026, with 16% VAT. An order under 10,000 ₸ pays by amount: 173 ₸ at 1,000–3,000 ₸, 927 ₸ to the regions at 5,000–10,000 ₸. Over 10,000 ₸ — by weight. Up to 5 kg it's 1,275 ₸ within the city and 1,507 ₸ to the regions, 5–15 kg to the regions — 1,971 ₸.

Minimum price: (purchase cost + delivery + packaging) ÷ (1 − rate). Protein to another city: (18,500 + 1,507 + 200) ÷ 0.875 ≈ 23,094 ₸. Bars at the 7.3% rate: (5,200 + 927 + 150) ÷ 0.927 ≈ 6,771 ₸.
The gainer and the 5 kg line
The same gainer, if it weighed under 5 kg in its packaging, would leave 3,993 ₸ instead of 3,529 ₸. That's a 464 ₸ difference on every tub. What to do: weigh the tub in the packaging you actually ship it in. If it's a couple of hundred grams over, a bubble wrap bag instead of a box sometimes helps. But the tub has to be protected, otherwise the savings go to returns.
BCAA and the 10,000 ₸ line
BCAA at 9,900 ₸ brings 1,685 ₸, at 10,500 ₸ — 1,631 ₸. We raised the price by 600 ₸ and got 54 ₸ less. Here the line is almost neutral, and we would either keep the price below 10,000 ₸ or sell a set, for example BCAA with a shaker.
Bars: one category — a 437 ₸ difference
The same box of bars leaves 1,510 ₸ in «Продукты питания» (Food) and 1,073 ₸ if the card was created in sports nutrition. 437 ₸ per box — only because of the category.
Shelf life and returns
Sports nutrition is a food product, and it has a shelf life. Under Article 30 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Consumer Protection", the seller must exchange or refund an item whose shelf life has expired (Consumer Protection Law). We wouldn't list leftovers with less than a couple of months to go before expiry, and we would show the date on the card if buyers ask about it.
Kaspi's general rules are: 14 days to return an item of proper quality with its presentation preserved and 30 days for a defective one (q2269, updated Sep 21, 2026). At the same time, paragraph 1 of the same Article 30 speaks of exchanging and returning non-food items of proper quality. How Kaspi handles the return of an unopened tub of protein isn't stated in its answers. If the tub is opened, the refusal reasons include «не сохранён товарный вид/был использован» (presentation not preserved / was used) (q5283, updated Sep 22, 2026). But refusing systematically is risky: Kaspi may restrict the store. More — returns on Kaspi for sellers.
Common mistakes in selling sports nutrition on Kaspi
- Listed protein without a permission. It won't get through, and if it does, it will be removed at a check.
- Checked the SGR by brand. Registration is for the product, and you need to check the name on the tub.
- Tubs "from abroad", no agreement. Without a supply agreement you won't get a permission, and a fake will be on your conscience.
- Put bars into «Спортивное питание» (Sports nutrition). Minus 437 ₸ on every box.
- Counted the net weight. A 4.5 kg gainer in a box already travels at the 5–15 kg tariff.
- Sent 12 bottles of isotonic without checking. More than 5 litres, delivery may be restricted.
- Listed leftovers with a short shelf life. The buyer has the right to return such an item.
Checklist before launching sports nutrition
The longest wait is for the permission. So we start with the documents.
- [ ] There is a permission for the needed «Спорт, туризм» categories.
- [ ] The SGR for each product is checked against the name on the tub.
- [ ] The agreement, waybills and payment are in the batch folder.
- [ ] Bars are listed in «Продукты питания» (Food).
- [ ] Tubs are weighed in packaging, everything around 5 kg is recalculated.
- [ ] Isotonic packs over 5 litres were first tested with one order.
- [ ] The shelf life of leftovers is checked.
- [ ] Prices around 10,000 ₸ are calculated from both sides.
- [ ] The minimum price is based on delivery to the regions.

How to automate prices on sports nutrition
If several stores sell protein in a 2.27 kg tub, the price on the card can change several times a day. How do you calculate the minimum price for protein?
Take a purchase cost of 18,500 ₸, delivery to the regions of 1,507 ₸ and packaging of 200 ₸. Divide the sum by 0.875 and you get about 23,094 ₸. Below this price there's no point selling protein to another city.
