Hobby and craft supplies sell on Kaspi at a 12.5% rate including VAT, and no category permission is needed. The section has almost two hundred subcategories, from embroidery hoops to pottery wheels, and they all share the same rate. What sets them apart is delivery. Kaspi Delivery doesn't carry sewing patterns or epoxy resin art kits at all. And a 9,900 ₸ paint-by-numbers kit ships to the regions for 927 ₸, while at 10,400 ₸ it already costs 1,507 ₸. Below: where sellers lose money here, and eight products worked out in tenge.
In short
- Hoops, paints, yarn or a pottery wheel: Kaspi takes 12.5%, and we found no exceptions in the section.
- Strangely enough, you can't send a sewing pattern via Kaspi Delivery. Epoxy kits neither.
- You need permission for a book about knitting, but not for the yarn itself.
- If your order includes Gamma paints, look at the brand list first.
- Most money here is lost on prices around 10,000 ₸, not on heavy boxes.
What "Hobby and crafts" covers and what Kaspi charges
The section sits under «Досуг, книги → Хобби и творчество» ("Leisure, books → Hobby and crafts") (Tariffs 2026, PDF). We counted 186 tariff lines in it. The biggest groups are needlework and drawing supplies.

What cannot be sent via Kaspi Delivery
This niche is full of surprises. In Kaspi's document on goods that cannot be sent via Kaspi Delivery (PDF), the «Досуг, книги» section lists sewing patterns and kits for making epoxy resin pictures. Under «Товары для рукоделия» ("Needlework supplies") the same document names «Дополнительные ингредиенты» ("Additional ingredients").
Why epoxy is on the list you can guess: there are liquid components. Why sewing patterns, which are sheets of paper, is a mystery, and Kaspi doesn't explain it. But there is no point arguing at the drop-off point; the document is what it is. These items need your own delivery or pickup; how to set that up is in the article own delivery on Kaspi.
General limits that hit craft supplies
At the end of the same document there is a rule for all categories. Limits may apply to liquids over 5 litres, to explosive goods (some types of aerosols and flammable liquids are named directly) and to fragile goods that need special packaging. In craft supplies that means spray varnish and spray paint, solvents, large canisters of resin and glass jars of pigment. We would ship such an item once and see whether the drop-off point accepts it before putting it into advertising.
Restrictions: books, brands and bans
Hobby books and hobby goods are different things
You open the list of restricted categories (PDF), see the line «Дом, досуг, хобби» ("Home, leisure, hobby") under «Досуг и книги», and it seems permission is needed for everything. Look at its neighbours: «Художественная литература» ("Fiction"), «Учебники» ("Textbooks"). It's a book genre. Hoops and plasticine sell without permission, but a book called "Knitting for beginners" will need it. For books Kaspi asks for a supply contract, a list of publishers, a waybill and proof of payment (q2224).
Brands
The list of restricted brands as of Nov 6, 2026 includes Gamma. Art supplies are sold under this name, but the list doesn't say which company exactly is meant. If you have Gamma paints or brushes, check when you create the card: if a brand application form appears, you'll need documents under q2618, meaning a rights holder letter or a contract, waybills and payment for 90 days, at least 10 units. Sellers who offer sewing machines next to fabric and thread should know that Janome and Bernina are on the list too.
What is banned outright
Kaspi doesn't allow used goods, fakes or replicas (q3904, updated Jan 16, 2026). A pottery studio is closing, the wheels are going cheap, and you're tempted to take a couple to resell. That won't work: a wheel from a workshop is used, even if it spins like new. The same goes for kits that are "almost like the brand". A separate point bans goods with prohibited symbols and offensive images. That covers embroidery charts and paint-by-numbers kits with dubious subjects, which sometimes turn up in batches from China.
The math: eight products and the 10,000 ₸ threshold
First, honesty about the numbers: this is a hypothetical example, not a client case. We made up the prices and purchase costs and did not count taxes. We took the tariffs from q2288 (updated Jun 16, 2026); they apply from Jan 1, 2026, and we added 16% VAT to them.
Here's how it works. While the buyer spends less than 10,000 ₸, Kaspi looks at the receipt: up to 3,000 ₸ you pay 173 ₸, up to 5,000 ₸ it's 231 ₸, and above that, to the regions, 927 ₸. Once the receipt passes 10,000 ₸, Kaspi starts looking at weight. A parcel up to 5 kg to another city costs 1,507 ₸, 5 to 15 kg costs 1,971 ₸, and 15 to 30 kg costs 4,175 ₸.

What price must you not go below? We calculate it like this: (purchase cost + delivery + packaging) ÷ (1 − rate). For the 10,400 ₸ paint-by-numbers kit going to the regions, that gives: (4,800 + 1,507 + 150) ÷ 0.875 ≈ 7,379 ₸. Pottery wheel: (62,000 + 4,175 + 900) ÷ 0.875 ≈ 76,657 ₸.
The 10,000 ₸ threshold
Take the paint-by-numbers kit. You sold it for 9,900 ₸ and decided to add five hundred since competitors were pricier. A week later you look at your payouts: every sale to the regions brought in 142 ₸ less than before. The five hundred tenge markup went like this: delivery took 580 ₸, and 62 ₸ was added to commission. To get back your 2,785 ₸, you'd have needed a price of about 10,560 ₸. Here we would either stay below the threshold or go well above it and put more paints in the box.
There's a flip side too. The threshold is based on the order total, not a single item. A buyer takes two diamond paintings at 5,400 ₸ each; the order comes to 10,800 ₸, and delivery to the regions is now charged by weight: 1,507 ₸ for a parcel up to 5 kg instead of 927 ₸. Per item that's less than if she had placed two separate orders. So for cheap kits, a "two at a slightly lower price" bundle is sometimes better than fighting for every hundred tenge in one card. Check it on your own numbers; Kaspi won't do these calculations for you.
Small items and the 10 ₸ price
On Kaspi you can set a price as low as 10 ₸ (q1345). So listing a 300 ₸ bag of beads is allowed. But do the math: 57 ₸ delivery, 38 ₸ commission, a bag, a label, five minutes of a picker's time. A 1,200 ₸ set leaves 447 ₸, and that you can live with.
Heavy and fragile
An 18 kg pottery wheel falls into the 15–30 kg band. If your boxed wheel weighs 14 kg, delivery to the regions costs 1,971 ₸, not 4,175 ₸. See whether the packaging can be made smaller. Stretched canvases and easels quickly become large items: for Kaspi, that's anything longer than 70 cm on any side or heavier than 20 kg (how to pack an item, PDF).
The product card, kits and returns
Diamond paintings are chosen by canvas size and type of rhinestones, yarn by composition and length, paints by the number of colours. Get these wrong when you create the card, and a month later the main characteristics can't be changed (q3554, updated Feb 23, 2026). Variants of one model can be merged if the brand, category and main characteristics match (q5146, updated Jul 23, 2026).
A kit is one card, and everything in it must match the description. Kaspi bans sending incomplete items and putting unrelated objects in an order, except gifts from the manufacturer stated on the product itself (q1342). A paint sample "as a gift from the shop" won't pass under these rules.
Returns are standard: 14 days for an item of proper quality that still looks new, and 30 days for a faulty one (q2269, updated Sep 21, 2026). An opened diamond painting with rhinestones stuck on no longer looks new. If one comes back, the seller can refuse, and the buyer may dispute the refusal within 3 days (q2277).
Common mistakes when selling craft supplies
- Sewing patterns handed to Kaspi Delivery. The drop-off point returns the parcel, and the buyer waits an extra day while you look for a courier.
- An epoxy kit with no own delivery. The order comes in, you have no way to ship it, and the cancellation hurts the shop's rating.
- Needlework books in the general batch. It's a restricted category; you need a list of publishers and documents.
- A kit priced at 10,100 ₸ instead of 9,900 ₸. Delivery to the regions rises by 580 ₸, and the shop gets less than at the lower price.
- Spray varnish in an ordinary box. Some types of aerosols fall under delivery limits.
- A gift from the shop in the order. Unrelated inserts are banned by the rules.
- The Gamma brand left unchecked. The card may hit a permission request after you've already bought stock.
Checklist before launching hobby supplies
The niche is broad, so the list is short, but it's worth going through it for each new product group.
Start with delivery. Sewing patterns and epoxy kits need your own delivery or pickup, and aerosols, solvents and canisters over 5 litres should be test-shipped once, before any advertising.
