Goods from China for Selling on Kaspi: Cost Price, Documents, Pricing

You can sell goods from China on Kaspi if they are not on the banned list, you have documents for restricted categories and brands, and you imported them legally. A batch for resale cannot be cleared as personal parcels: commercial imports are declared, and duty by HS code plus 16% VAT are paid at customs. So the price on 1688 multiplied by the yuan rate is only the start of the calculation. In our example the full cost price came out 58% higher than the purchase price, and the minimum price on Kaspi has to be calculated from that.

In short

  • First check the product against Kaspi's rules: used goods, replicas, 18+, spy devices and a number of other groups cannot be sold, while children's goods, pharmacy, beauty, dietary supplements and others need a permit with documents.
  • Restricted brands are opened based on waybills and payment for the last 90 days, at least 10 units per brand. A permit also requires 10 issued orders a month.
  • The 200 euro and 31 kg limit is for personal parcels. A batch for sale is cleared with a declaration in KEDEN using a digital signature (ЭЦП), with duty under the EAEU Common Customs Tariff and 16% VAT.
  • Import VAT is paid even by a sole proprietor (ИП) on the simplified regime. A non-VAT payer can't offset it, so it goes entirely into the cost price.
  • At the 10,000 ₸ threshold Kaspi Delivery goes up from 811 to 1,275 ₸ including VAT. In our example a lamp at 9,990 ₸ earns about 650 ₸, and at 10,010 ₸ about 200 ₸.

What you can sell: Kaspi rules

Banned goods

In the Kaspi.kz Store you may not sell or advertise used goods, fakes and replicas, TV and radio broadcasting goods without an operator licence, religious items, goods with banned symbols, goods dangerous to life and health (smoking products, weapons and similar items, stun guns), 18+ goods, spy devices with a hidden camera or microphone, digital goods and samples (q3904, updated Jan 16, 2026). For China the most painful line is "fakes and replicas". A product "like the brand's, only cheaper" can't be sold on Kaspi, and the words «копия», «реплика», «1:1» (copy, replica, 1:1) are banned even in the description.

Restricted categories

Some categories need a permit. The form appears in the account when you add such a product (q2224, updated Oct 5, 2026). The set of documents depends on the category:

Category What Kaspi asks for
Children's goods, pharmacy, sports, tourism, beauty and health Supply agreement or contract with the factory, an EAC certificate or declaration and a state registration certificate where required by law, waybill, proof of payment
Vitamins and dietary supplements The same, plus a product state registration certificate where required
Pet products Agreement, EAC where required by law, waybill, payment; for veterinary drugs — a notice of commencement of activity
Motorcycles, scooters, quad bikes Agreement, vehicle passport or equivalent, EAC and vehicle type approval (ОТТС) where needed, waybill, payment
Fireworks Licence to store and sell pyrotechnics, agreement, EAC, waybill, payment
Jewellery Agreement, an assay office expert opinion for each item, waybill, payment

If the EAC or the certificate is issued not to you but to another company, Kaspi will ask you to prove the chain: an agreement between the supplier and the document holder, waybills, a power of attorney or a certified copy (q5213, updated Aug 7, 2026). Forged documents lead to measures up to disconnection from the Store.

Restricted brands

Brands on the list require an information letter from the rights holder, an agreement and waybills with payment for the last 90 days, at least 10 units per brand (q2618, updated Jul 10, 2026). Buying on the brand's official website also works, but with conditions, and it does not work for the categories «Телефоны и гаджеты», «Бытовая техника», «ТВ, Аудио, Видео», «Компьютеры», «Красота и здоровье» (Phones and gadgets, Home appliances, TV/Audio/Video, Computers, Beauty and health). Kaspi may not open a brand if the product was bought in an unauthorised online store. A refusal can happen for another reason too: you need to have issued 10 or more orders within a month (q4810, updated Mar 16, 2026). A newcomer with a first batch of branded electronics from China often runs into exactly this.

Parcel or import: how to bring in a batch

The duty-free allowance for international postal and courier shipments is up to 200 euros and up to 31 kg. Above the allowance you pay 15% of the excess value, but not less than 2 euros per kilogram (finance.kz, «Лимиты на ввоз товаров» (Import limits), current as of Oct 7, 2026). The new e-commerce rules with 5% duty and 16% VAT, planned for July 1, 2026, were postponed, and as of October 7, 2026 they are not in force.

These allowances are for personal use. A batch you will sell on Kaspi is a commercial import. Since April 2026 goods declarations are filed in the KEDEN system, and you need a valid digital signature to work in it. The order is: determine the HS code (ТН ВЭД), check restrictions and permit documents, calculate the payments, file the declaration yourself or through a broker (finance.kz, «Как оформить импорт товара из Китая» (How to import goods from China), current as of Oct 2, 2026).

There is no single duty rate for goods from China; it depends on the HS code under the EAEU Common Customs Tariff. VAT on taxable imports since January 1, 2026 is 16%, and the base is the customs value plus customs payments other than VAT itself. The declaration fee is 6 MCI (МРП); with the MCI at 4,325 ₸ that is 25,950 ₸ per declaration. For imports from countries outside the EAEU, VAT is collected at customs (Ösim, «Налоги при импорте и экспорте в 2026 году» (Taxes on imports and exports in 2026)).

The HS code is not chosen by the product name on 1688 or in the invoice. It determines the duty, the documents and, as we wrote in our article about product marking for Kaspi, also whether the product has to be marked and from what date.

Full cost price: formula and calculation

Unit cost = Customs value + Duty + Import VAT + Fees and services per unit + Delivery to the warehouse

Here the customs value is the product price plus delivery to the EAEU border, duty is the rate for the HS code applied to the customs value, and VAT is 16% of the customs value plus duty. The declaration fee, certification and broker are divided by the number of units in the batch.

A hypothetical example, not a client case. The batch is 300 desk lamps at 60 ¥ each. Exchange rate 72 ₸ per yuan, duty rate 10%; delivery, certification and broker are our assumptions. Look up your own duty rate by HS code, and the cost of the declaration of conformity with a certification body.

Item Per unit How we calculated
Supplier price 4,320 ₸ 60 ¥ × 72 ₸
Delivery to the EAEU border 300 ₸ assumption
Customs value 4,620 ₸ price + delivery to the border
Duty 10% 462 ₸ 4,620 × 10%, assumed rate
Import VAT 16% 813 ₸ (4,620 + 462) × 16%
Declaration fee 87 ₸ 25,950 ₸ ÷ 300
EAC declaration of conformity 500 ₸ 150,000 ₸ ÷ 300, assumption
Broker 200 ₸ 60,000 ₸ ÷ 300, assumption
Delivery to a warehouse in Almaty 150 ₸ assumption
Full cost price 6,832 ₸ 1.58 times the supplier price

If you forget import VAT, the cost price comes out at 6,019 ₸, and the 813 ₸ error on every lamp later surfaces as "the margin disappears somewhere". Payers under the simplified declaration are not VAT payers, except for import VAT (cdb.kz, Art. 722 of the Tax Code). A non-VAT payer cannot offset it, so for a sole proprietor on the simplified regime it is a pure expense. More on tax regimes in our article about sole proprietor taxes on Kaspi in 2026.

Minimum price on Kaspi

Next, the cost price goes into the minimum price formula. Kaspi's commission and tax are calculated from the selling price, so we divide rather than add:

Minimum price = (Cost price + Kaspi Delivery + Packaging + Target profit) ÷ (1 − Commission − Tax)

We take an assumed 12.5% commission including VAT — that is the rate in most categories; check your own in the tariff table (q1344, updated Jan 6, 2026). Tax is 3%, the simplified regime rate in Almaty. Kaspi Delivery «Город» (City) up to 5 kg: 699 ₸ excluding VAT for an order from 5,000 to 10,000 ₸ and 1,099 ₸ for an order from 10,000 ₸ (q2288, updated Jun 16, 2026). With 16% VAT that is 811 ₸ and 1,275 ₸. Packaging is 150 ₸.

Target profit per order Delivery incl. VAT Minimum price
0 ₸, break-even 811 ₸ 9,223 ₸
1,000 ₸ 1,275 ₸ 10,955 ₸
1,500 ₸ 1,275 ₸ 11,547 ₸
2,500 ₸ 1,275 ₸ 12,730 ₸
0 ₸, but import VAT forgotten 811 ₸ 8,259 ₸

Checking one row: at 11,547 ₸ the commission and tax take 1,790 ₸, leaving 9,757 ₸. Minus the cost price of 6,832 ₸, delivery of 1,275 ₸ and packaging of 150 ₸ — and you get 1,500 ₸.

Look at the jump from the first row to the second. Break-even is 9,223 ₸, but to earn just 1,000 ₸ you need 10,955 ₸, which is 1,732 ₸ more. The reason is the 10,000 ₸ threshold: the price crosses it, and delivery becomes 464 ₸ more expensive. Hence a practical conclusion. If your price moves around 10,000 ₸, then 9,990 ₸ and 10,540 ₸ give the same profit, about 650 ₸, and everything in between earns less. For products near this threshold, calculate the minimum price both ways. We covered the general logic of the formula in our article about dumping and the minimum price, and commissions by category in our article about the Kaspi commission.

Lead times, pre-orders and competition in the card

Delivery from China is the longest link in the chain, and its timing floats. A pre-order on Kaspi is limited to 30 days, and if a batch falls through, cancellations through your fault can easily exceed 3%. How to calculate a safe lead time is covered in our article about pre-orders on Kaspi. If the worst-case time of your route is more than a month, it is simpler to bring in the batch first and list the product as in stock.

The second thing people forget: a product card on Kaspi is shared. If you brought the same lamp that five people already sell, you join their card and compete on price, bonuses, rating and delivery time. You can close a card to other sellers only for your own brand: the name and logo are registered with the National Institute of Intellectual Property, your brand is on the product, and other sellers have no such offers. The decision comes within two days (q3730, updated Jul 21, 2026). If other sellers already sell your product, access cannot be closed (q3345).

Hence a strategy that sellers of Chinese goods often choose: their own trademark, their own packaging, their own card. It takes longer and costs more at the start, but without your own brand you are in a price war from day one with everyone bringing the same product from the same factory. How to choose a niche before buying is covered in our article what to sell on Kaspi.

Common mistakes

  • Calculating the cost price as "price × exchange rate". In our example that is 4,320 ₸ against the real 6,832 ₸. A price built on this error looks profitable and sells at a loss.
  • Forgetting import VAT on the simplified regime. It is paid at customs and is not offset for a non-VAT payer.
  • Bringing a batch in "as parcels". The 200 euro and 31 kg allowances are for personal use. Goods for resale are a commercial import with a declaration.
  • Choosing the HS code by name. Duty, certificates and marking depend on the code. The error surfaces at customs or during an inspection.
  • Buying branded goods without documents. For restricted brands Kaspi asks for waybills and payment for the last 90 days and at least 10 units per brand.
  • Pricing near 10,000 ₸ without recalculating delivery. Crossing the threshold adds 464 ₸ per order to costs.
  • Buying an "analogue of a famous brand". Replicas are banned on Kaspi, and the words «копия» and «1:1» won't pass even in the description.

Checklist

  1. The product is not on the banned list for the Kaspi.kz Store.
  2. You have checked whether the category or brand is restricted and which documents are needed.
  3. The HS code is determined, and from it the duty rate, certification and marking.
  4. You have a digital signature and access to KEDEN, or an agreement with a broker.
  5. The cost price includes delivery to the border, duty, 16% VAT, and fees and services per unit.
  6. The minimum price is calculated by the formula with the category commission, tax and the Kaspi Delivery tariff.
  7. If the price is around 10,000 ₸, the minimum price is checked with both delivery tariffs.
  8. The product is registered in the National Product Catalogue (НКТ) and has a barcode.
  9. The supply lead time is compared with the 30-day pre-order limit.
  10. You have decided whether to sell in a shared card or build your own brand.

If this is your first shipment, take a small batch and go through the whole chain end to end: customs, certificate, Kaspi permit, first sales. The real delivery and broker figures from this shipment will replace the assumptions in the calculation, and the next batch will be costed honestly.

How to automate it

You calculate the cost price and handle the documents, while a dumping bot (repricing bot) can hold the price in the shared card. The SaleScout Kaspi bot checks prices every 20 seconds, puts you at the top of the card and never goes below the minimum price you set. When a competitor raises their price or leaves the card, the bot raises your price to just below the next seller. For goods from China this matters especially: the minimum price from the calculation above is exactly the floor the bot will not go below. You can try the bot free for 7 days, no card needed. SaleScout niche analytics will help you choose a niche before buying.

FAQ

Can I sell goods from China on Kaspi?

Yes, if the product isn't banned by Kaspi's rules, was imported legally, and you have a permit for restricted categories and brands. Fakes and replicas, used goods, 18+ and a number of other groups cannot be sold. Children's goods, pharmacy, beauty, dietary supplements and other categories require documents.

Do I need to clear customs for goods from China to sell on Kaspi?

Yes. The 200 euro and 31 kg allowances apply to personal parcels. A batch for resale is a commercial import: a declaration in KEDEN, duty by HS code, 16% VAT and a fee of 6 MCI per declaration.

How do I calculate the cost price of goods from China?

Add up the customs value (price plus delivery to the EAEU border), the duty, import VAT of 16% on the customs value plus duty, fees and services per unit, and delivery to the warehouse. In our hypothetical example a lamp at 60 ¥ at a rate of 72 ₸ cost 4,320 ₸, and the full cost price came to 6,832 ₸. Without import VAT, the calculation understates the cost price by 813 ₸.

Does a sole proprietor on the simplified regime pay VAT when importing from China?

Yes. Payers under the simplified declaration are not VAT payers, except for import VAT. A non-VAT payer cannot offset this VAT, so it goes entirely into the cost price.

What minimum price should I set for goods from China?

Use the formula: (cost price + delivery + packaging + profit) ÷ (1 − commission − tax). With a cost price of 6,832 ₸, a 12.5% commission and 3% tax, break-even is 9,223 ₸. For a profit of 1,500 ₸ you need 11,547 ₸, because delivery gets more expensive above 10,000 ₸.

How can I sell goods from China without competitors in the card?

Only through your own brand. Kaspi lets the owner of a trademark registered with the National Institute of Intellectual Property close a card to other sellers, if that brand is on the product and others have no such offer. If other sellers already sell the product, access cannot be closed.

Why did Kaspi refuse a brand permit?

Most often because of an incomplete set of documents or because the store has fewer than 10 issued orders in a month. Another reason is buying in an unauthorised online store, or on the brand's official website for categories where this isn't accepted, such as «Телефоны и гаджеты». Kaspi decides case by case.
