What to sell on Kaspi isn't decided by "top products" lists but by five filters: whether you're allowed to sell it, how much is left after commission and delivery in your price range, how many sellers are already in the product card, how stable demand is, and whether you can keep up supply. A product that passes all five can be tested with a small batch. A product that fails even one is better set aside.
In short
- Start with the list of banned items and restricted categories: for some products, Kaspi will ask for a permit and documents.
- Commission varies from category to category between 6.4% and 13.5% excluding VAT. That's a few percentage points of net margin you'll either get or not before your first sale.
- In our examples, delivery eats between 4% and 14% of the price. Heavy, inexpensive products suffer most.
- How many sellers are in the product card and how far apart their prices are tells you more than a product's "popularity".
- We covered how to measure demand for a specific card in "Kaspi Niche Analytics". Here we look at how to choose what to check in the first place.
Three ways in
On Kaspi, many sellers can offer the same product, and they're all listed in one shared product card. Before you open a supplier's catalog, answer for yourself how you plan to make money. The three models below have completely different filters and budgets.
| Model | What it is | Where the money is | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Someone else's product in someone else's card | You sell the same thing as others, in the same card | Lower landed cost and quick price reactions | A price war down to the minimum price |
| Your own brand or an exclusive | Your own card, no competitors inside | A markup resellers don't have | You have to create demand yourself |
| Long tail | Hundreds of items, each with small sales | The sum of small sales without price wars | The volume of manual work and stock |
Someone else's product. The fastest start: the card already exists and demand is visible. But competitors see the same thing. The winner here is whoever has the lower landed cost, a better rating and faster price reactions. Don't go in without a calculated minimum price.
Your own brand. Here you'll need documents, your own card with decent photos and copy, and money for promotion: Kaspi Marketing (in-platform advertising) or outside traffic, at least micro-influencer ads. The reward is a card where you're alone. No dumping (aggressive price undercutting) until someone brings in the same product.
Long tail. Hundreds of items with almost no competitors: each sells a couple of times a month, but together they add up to real turnover. The catch is the routine. With four hundred SKUs, tracking prices and stock by hand is a separate employee's job.
You can combine them, and it's even convenient: a dozen fast-moving "someone else's" products bring turnover and reviews, your own brand brings margin. Just don't run them by the same rules. Where you're alone in the card, there's nobody to undercut, and ads work differently.
Filter 1. Are you allowed to sell it
Banned products
According to Kaspi Guide, Kaspi's official help center, the following can't be sold or advertised in the Kaspi.kz store (Kaspi Guide, "Which products can't be sold"):
- used goods, counterfeits and replicas;
- TV and radio broadcasting equipment that receives operators' signals without a license;
- items for religious rites;
- products with banned symbols, obscene inscriptions, or promotion of violence and drugs;
- dangerous goods: smoking products, weapons and items resembling them;
- products labeled 18+;
- spy devices with hidden cameras and microphones;
- digital goods: subscriptions, activation keys;
- items intended for free distribution, such as samples.
The same list includes animals, uniforms of the military, law enforcement and the Kazakhstan tax service, and even some fishing nets.
Two items on this list matter most to sellers. "Replicas" means "brand copies" won't pass. "Digital goods" means you can't sell subscriptions and keys on Kaspi.
Restricted categories
Some categories and brands only let you in with a permit and documents (Kaspi Guide). The list is longer than you'd think: children's goods, pharmacy, sports and tourism, beauty and health, pet supplies, leisure and books, vitamins and dietary supplements, motor vehicles, fireworks, jewelry. What exactly you'll be asked for depends on the category: a supply contract, a certificate or declaration of conformity, a state registration certificate where the law requires one, delivery notes.
The order of operations is simple: first the documents from the supplier, then the purchase. Otherwise you may end up with two hundred boxes of vitamins in your warehouse that didn't pass the check.
Filter 2. How much is left after commission and delivery
Commission by category
Commission depends on the category (Kaspi's 2026 rate table):
| Category | Excl. VAT | Incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Food | 6.4% | 7.3% |
| Pharmacy, pet supplies | 6.4–10.9% | 7.3–12.5% |
| Most categories | 10.9% | 12.5% |
| Phones, TV/audio/video, accessories | 10.9–13.5% | 12.5–15.5% |
| Jewelry | 13.5% | 15.5% |
If you're not VAT-registered, look at the right-hand column. And don't be seduced by the low commission on food: the products themselves have modest margins too, and expiry dates add write-offs.
Delivery as a share of the price
Kaspi Delivery, Kaspi's shipping service, costs the seller different amounts depending on order value and weight (Kaspi Guide). Let's work out what share of the price it eats, with 16% VAT:
| Product price | Rate condition | Delivery incl. VAT | Share of price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 900 ₸ | up to 1,000 ₸ | ≈ 57 ₸ | 6.3% |
| 2,500 ₸ | 1,000–3,000 ₸ | ≈ 173 ₸ | 6.9% |
| 4,500 ₸ | 3,000–5,000 ₸ | ≈ 231 ₸ | 5.1% |
| 7,000 ₸ | 5,000–10,000 ₸, within the city | ≈ 811 ₸ | 11.6% |
| 9,500 ₸ | 5,000–10,000 ₸, within the city | ≈ 811 ₸ | 8.5% |
| 12,000 ₸ | from 10,000 ₸, up to 5 kg, within the city | ≈ 1,275 ₸ | 10.6% |
| 30,000 ₸ | from 10,000 ₸, up to 5 kg, within the city | ≈ 1,275 ₸ | 4.2% |
| 30,000 ₸ | 15–30 kg, within the city | ≈ 2,667 ₸ | 8.9% |
| 30,000 ₸ | 15–30 kg, across Kazakhstan | ≈ 4,175 ₸ | 13.9% |
What the table shows:
- Two "danger" ranges: just above 5,000 ₸ and just above 10,000 ₸. There, delivery jumps to the next tier while the price is still low.
- Heavy products are expensive to ship across Kazakhstan: for 15–30 kg, the nationwide rate is about 1.6 times the in-city rate.
- Cheap, light products under 5,000 ₸ have a small delivery share, but in absolute money the profit there is small too.
Example: profit before advertising for five ideas
A hypothetical example, not a client case. Landed costs are approximate. Commission 12.5% including VAT; for pet food, 7.3% including VAT (the bottom of the "Pet supplies" range; check the exact rate for your product in Kaspi's table), tax 3%, returns 2%, packaging 100 ₸.
| Idea | Price | Landed cost | Delivery | Net before ads | Share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phone case | 2,500 ₸ | 900 ₸ | 173 ₸ | ≈ 890 ₸ | 35.6% |
| Thermos | 6,500 ₸ | 3,200 ₸ | 811 ₸ | ≈ 1,252 ₸ | 19.3% |
| Blender | 18,000 ₸ | 10,500 ₸ | 1,275 ₸ | ≈ 2,975 ₸ | 16.5% |
| Clothes drying rack, 18 kg | 30,000 ₸ | 17,000 ₸ | 2,667 ₸ | ≈ 4,983 ₸ | 16.6% |
| Pet food | 9,000 ₸ | 6,500 ₸ | 811 ₸ | ≈ 482 ₸ | 5.4% |
The phone case looks great in percentages, but in tenge that's 890 ₸ per order, and any card usually has plenty of case sellers. Pet food at 5.4% leaves no room for undercutting or advertising. The blender and the drying rack bring in more money per order, but they tie up more working capital and take up half your warehouse.
Filter 3. Competition in the card
Customers don't choose between your product and someone else's: they open one card and see a list of sellers in it. Who ranks higher is decided by bonuses (Kaspi's cashback points, funded by the seller), price, rating, reviews and delivery speed (Kaspi Guide). So when sizing up a product, look at the card through a competitor's eyes:
- How many sellers are in the card. The more there are, the more likely a price war.
- Price spread. If everyone's prices are within 1–2%, the market is stable and sellers are undercutting each other by 1 ₸. If the spread is wide, someone is either selling at a loss or has a much lower landed cost.
- Who's on top. An official seller or distributor with a landed cost you can't get close to is a reason to walk away.
- The leaders' rating. If everyone is rated 4.8+, a new store will struggle at the same price: with equal prices, the better rating ranks higher.
You can also come at it from the other side: find a product that only you will sell in its card. Your own brand, a supplier exclusive, a rare color or bundle. There'll be no dumping, but nobody will bring you customers either; you'll have to attract them yourself, with ads in Kaspi Marketing or outside Kaspi.
Filter 4. Demand and seasonality
It's important to assess demand not "in general" but for a specific card and over time. The method is in "Kaspi Niche Analytics". At the selection stage, ask yourself three questions:
- Is this product bought all year round or seasonally? Heaters, school supplies, New Year goods have a season you need to get your stock in for.
- Does the product have a "lifespan"? Electronics and gadgets go out of date, and models change.
- Does demand depend on Kaspi promotions? If the product sells mostly on installments and in promotions, keep in mind that commission in installment promotions may differ (Kaspi Guide).
Filter 5. Supply
The supplier matters more than it seems. If they take a month and a half to bring the next batch, you'll keep dropping out of the card, and a product forgotten on sale with zero stock will turn into cancellations. Compare the minimum order quantity with how much you'll realistically sell in a month: two hundred units when you sell twenty is money frozen for half a year. Buying in yuan or dollars adds currency risk. And get documents for restricted categories before you pay; it's harder to get them afterwards.
A weighted scoring model
Give each idea 0 to 5 points on each filter, multiply by the weight, and add them up. We picked the weights by eye; change them if, say, you have little money for stock and turnover matters more to you than margin.
| Criterion | Weight | Blender | Drying rack | Phone case |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Allowed without complications | pass/fail | yes | yes | yes |
| Net before ads per order | 30 | 4 | 5 | 2 |
| Competition in the card | 25 | 3 | 4 | 1 |
| Demand and seasonality | 20 | 4 | 3 | 4 |
| Supply and working capital | 15 | 3 | 2 | 5 |
| Delivery and returns | 10 | 4 | 2 | 5 |
| Total out of 100 | 72 | 72 | 58 |
Total = sum of (weight × score) ÷ 5. The scores are hypothetical. The blender and the drying rack scored the same, but for different reasons: the rack makes more money per order and faces less competition, while the blender is easier on supply and delivery. That's now a starting point for discussing what matters more to you, rather than guesswork.
A test batch
Test a product that has passed the filters with a small batch. A guideline for size:
Test batch = Your store's expected sales in the card over 2–4 weeks
Your store's expected sales aren't the whole card's sales but the share you can realistically capture at your price and rating. How to estimate demand for a card is shown in the article on niche analytics. The test batch should give you an answer within a month: does the product sell at a price no lower than your minimum, and what's the real return rate.
Common mistakes
- Choosing from other people's "what sells" lists. The author doesn't know your landed cost, rating or budget, and you'll be the hundred-and-first to arrive at the top of their list.
- Buying stock in a restricted category without documents. The batch is paid for, but the product doesn't pass the check.
- Not calculating the delivery share. A heavy product at 7,000 ₸ gives more than 11% of its price to delivery.
- Setting a price just above 5,000 or 10,000 ₸ without doing the math. Delivery jumps a tier.
- Entering a card with a distributor on top. You can't win a price war against whoever controls the landed cost.
- Buying a large first batch. A demand mistake turns into frozen money.
- Forgetting seasonality. A product brought in at the end of the season waits for next year.
Checklist
Two items rule out an idea immediately, so check them first: the product must not be on the banned list, and for a restricted category the supplier must have the documents. If those are in order, go through the list:
- The category commission is taken from Kaspi's table, including VAT.
- Delivery is calculated for weight, destination and price range.
- You know how much is left net per order before advertising.
- You've looked at how many sellers are in the card, how spread out prices are and what rating the leaders have.
- You know when the product's season is and how long it stays relevant.
- The supplier can bring the next batch in time.
- The idea has been scored with the weighted model.
- The test batch is sized from your store's sales, not the leader's.
How to automate it
Five filters for one idea take an evening. For fifty ideas it's a week, and by the end your attention isn't what it was. SaleScout's niche analytics module collects data on product cards so you can compare ideas before buying stock, not after. Once a product is selling, SaleScout's Kaspi bot can manage its price in the card: it checks prices every 20 seconds and never goes below your minimum price. You can try the bot free for 7 days, no card required.
FAQ
What is profitable to sell on Kaspi?
There's no ready-made list, and there can't be. The same item makes money at your landed cost and loses money at your neighbor's. Look for a product that's allowed, leaves net profit after commission, delivery and tax, sells steadily and isn't swarmed by competitors, and that has a supplier able to bring the next batch on time.
Which products can't be sold on Kaspi?
The full list is in Kaspi Guide. It includes used goods, counterfeits and replicas, 18+ products, weapons and items resembling them, smoking products, spy devices, subscriptions and activation keys, samples, and products with banned symbols. Children's goods, pharmacy and a number of other categories need a permit and documents.
What is Kaspi's commission by category?
In the official 2026 rate table, the range is 6.4% to 13.5% excluding VAT (7.3–15.5% including VAT). The most common rate is 10.9% excluding VAT, which is 12.5% including it. Food is the cheapest at 6.4%, and jewelry the most expensive at 13.5% excluding VAT.
How does delivery affect product choice on Kaspi?
Kaspi Delivery costs for the seller depend on order value and weight. In our examples, its share is 4% to 14% of the price. The least profitable zones are prices just above 5,000 ₸ and just above 10,000 ₸, as well as heavy products shipped across Kazakhstan.
How many sellers in a card is too many?
The structure matters more than the number: the price spread, the leaders' rating and who's on top. If a distributor or official seller with a landed cost you can't match is on top, even three sellers is a lot. If prices are spread out and the leaders' ratings aren't high, you can enter even a card with a dozen sellers.
What batch size should I take for a test on Kaspi?
Base it on your store's expected sales in the card over 2–4 weeks, not on the whole card's sales. Within a month, the batch should show whether the product sells at no less than your minimum price and what its real return rate is.
