How to Take Product Photos for Kaspi: Shooting on a Phone, Kaspi Requirements and Why Photos Get Rejected

A good photo for Kaspi can be taken on an ordinary phone: the whole product, in focus, without packaging or watermarks, on a calm background, from several sides. Kaspi's formal requirements are short: a resolution from 500×500 to 5000×5000 pixels, a file of up to 25 MB, and from 1 to 15 images per product card. Photos are rejected most often not for technical reasons but for content: the main shot in a box, extra objects, only part of the product visible. Below is a shot plan, file preparation and a calculation of what each rejection costs.

In short

  • Technical limits: 500×500–5000×5000 px, up to 25 MB per file, from 1 to 15 photos per card.
  • The main photo shows the whole product without packaging. The box is shown later, on the second or third shot.
  • A shot from a 48-megapixel camera is larger than 5000 px on a side and has to be downscaled. A 12 MP shot passes as is.
  • When uploading via the Excel template, each photo must weigh up to 1 MB if there are many, and the ZIP archive up to 100 MB.
  • A photo edit is reviewed within up to 1 working day. Each rejection is one more such day.

What Kaspi requires from product photos

The rules from the Kaspi Guide

There aren't many requirements, and they're all about the buyer seeing exactly what they'll get (q2233, updated Dec 27, 2024). A good-quality image without watermarks. The product is in focus and takes up most of the frame. There are no items in the frame that aren't part of the set, and if you sell a set, all its pieces are shown. One more thing: the product must be shot from different angles without packaging.

Technically: from 500×500 to 5000×5000 pixels and up to 25 MB per file. You can upload from 1 to 15 photos to a card (q2968, updated Apr 10, 2026).

How the card itself is created, how linking to an existing card differs from creating a new one and what to write in the title are covered in the article how to create a product card on Kaspi. Here we only talk about the images.

What gets photos rejected

Kaspi lists the reasons why a photo edit isn't applied (q3555, updated Jun 17, 2025):

Reason What it looks like in practice How to fix it
Poor quality, blur Shot in the evening under a ceiling lamp, the hand shook Daylight, a phone stand, a timer
Watermarks The photo was taken from the supplier with their logo Reshoot it yourself
The main photo doesn't show the whole product A close-up of a kettle handle First shot is a full view
The main photo is in packaging A box with the factory picture Move the box to the 3rd or 4th shot
Extra objects A case "for looks" next to a phone sold without a case Remove everything that doesn't ship to the buyer
Photos were deleted All shots were erased to upload new ones Add the new ones first, then remove the old ones

The last point isn't obvious. If you delete photos in a card, the changes may not be applied at all. The right order: upload the new set, submit the request, wait for the review.

Shot plan: which shots you need

The minimum set

For most products, six to eight shots are enough. Fifteen are rarely needed, but a single photo is too few. The buyer flips through the gallery as if turning the product in their hands, and decides for themselves how much they need to see.

  1. Main shot. The whole product, from the front or at three-quarters, on a light background. It takes up most of the frame.
  2. Back or side view. Especially for electronics: ports, buttons, stand.
  3. Details. Fabric texture, a seam, labeling on the item, the material.
  4. What's in the box. Everything in the box laid out side by side: cable, adapter, manual.
  5. Packaging. What the box looks like, if it matters to the buyer (gifts, cosmetics).
  6. Size in a hand or next to a familiar object. When buyers get confused about dimensions, this shot saves you returns.

What changes by category

Clothes and shoes are easier to shoot on a mannequin or on a flat surface, without creases. For different sizes of one model you can use identical photos, and they will end up in one card (q2237, updated Sep 2, 2025). This only applies to the «Одежда» (clothing) and «Обувь» (shoes) categories.

With home appliances it's usually more important to show the control panel and all the connectors than a "nice" overall view. Someone buying a vacuum cleaner wants to see what's going on with the filter.

Cosmetics have their own trap: a shiny jar reflects light. Shoot in diffused light with the jar turned slightly sideways to the window, and check that the ingredients on the label are readable.

Sets are the most common place for rejection. If a set has five items, all five must be in the photo. And if the picture shows six because the supplier photographed a different bundle, that's already "an extra product in the frame."

How to shoot on a phone without a studio

Light

The best free light is a window in the daytime, without direct sun. Put the table sideways to the window, and on the opposite side a sheet of white cardboard or foam board; it will fill in the shadows. Turn off the overhead light in the room, or the photo will have two different shades of white.

In the evening and in winter, when it's already dark at 17:00, a lightbox or a pair of identical lamps with diffusers helps. The main thing is that the light sources are the same color.

Background and angle

Kaspi doesn't require a white or light-gray background, but on one the product doesn't get lost and looks consistent with competitors' cards. A sheet of drawing paper curved from the wall to the table works, so there's no horizon line.

Shoot from the product's level, not from above "the way a buyer sees it on the counter." For small items an angle of 30–45 degrees works. Step back and zoom in slightly if the camera distorts proportions at close range.

Sharpness

Phone on a stand, a 2–3 second timer, focus by tapping on the product. This solves almost all "blurry" complaints. If the picture looks sharp on the phone screen, open it on a computer at 100%: you'll see more there.

Preparing files: sizes and bulk upload

Resolution and file size

Kaspi accepts up to 5000 pixels on the longer side. A regular 12 MP shot is 4032×3024 and passes unchanged. But 48 MP mode gives 8064×6048, and such a file has to be downscaled. In any editor, set 4000 pixels on the long side and save as JPG.

Source Frame size OK without processing What to do
Phone, 12 MP mode 4032×3024 Yes Nothing, check the size is up to 25 MB
Phone, 48 MP mode 8064×6048 No, more than 5000 px Downscale to 4000 px on the long side
Screenshot or photo from a messenger often under 1000 px Sometimes Better to reshoot; messengers compress the image
Supplier's photo from a website varies Often not (watermarks) Reshoot it yourself

Uploading via the Excel template

If you have many products, they're uploaded via the template in the web cabinet: Нераспознанные товары → Загрузить информацию о товарах (q2237). Photos go into an "images" folder. They can be named in two ways: "SKU_number" (1234_1, 1234_2) or a separate folder for each SKU with files 1–10 and the SKU in the «Код изображений» (image code) column. The template and the folder are zipped into a ZIP of up to 100 MB, and if there are many photos, each must weigh no more than 1 MB.

That gives simple arithmetic. A 100 MB archive with files of about 1 MB holds roughly 100 photos. That's 10 products with 10 shots each. For a range of 60 items, prepare six archives or compress harder. 4000 pixels is fine for the catalog on the site, but for a batch it's better to save at 2000×2000: such a JPG file usually fits into 1 MB and stays within the requirements.

What a rejection costs: the math

Kaspi reviews a photo edit within up to 1 working day, "after which the product will appear on sale" (q2968). For the review period it's safer to assume the card may not sell, and each rejection adds one more such day.

A hypothetical example, not a client case. The sales and margin figures are made up for the calculation.

Product Sales per day Margin per order Loss for 1 day Loss for 2 rejections
Kettle 4 2,500 ₸ 10,000 ₸ 20,000 ₸
Phone case 10 1,800 ₸ 18,000 ₸ 36,000 ₸
Vacuum cleaner 1 6,000 ₸ 6,000 ₸ 12,000 ₸

Formula: loss = sales per day × margin per order × days without sales. The numbers are small while it's one product. Reshoot 40 items and have half of them sent back, and it starts to hurt.

There's also an alternative: a photographer. If they charge, say, 3,000 ₸ per product (a hypothetical figure), 40 items will cost 120,000 ₸. Whether that pays off depends on margin and turnover. For a fast-moving product with an 1,800 ₸ margin and ten sales a day, one saved day almost covers the shoot for that item. For a slow product it's easier to shoot it yourself using the plan above.

When a reshoot isn't needed

Not every card is worth touching. If you linked to an existing card where another seller uploaded the photos and they're fine, the buyer may never see your shots, and the time will be wasted. A reshoot makes sense when you created the card yourself, when it shows mistakes from the table above, or when buyers write in reviews "it looked different in the photo." In that last case the photos are already costing you returns, and that's more expensive than any shoot.

Kaspi AI and video

Kaspi AI

The cabinet has Kaspi AI: you photograph the product, and the assistant fills in the card, writes a description, enhances and generates photos, for example on a model or in an interior (q4878, updated May 28, 2026). The result can be edited, or you can ask it to redo the images.

This saves time, but check every shot with your own eyes. A generated interior must not "add" items that aren't in the set, or you create a rejection for yourself and a question from the buyer: "where's the stand from the photo?"

Video

A short video is 5 to 60 seconds, MP4 or MOV up to 30 MB, with a 1:1, 3:4 or 4:3 aspect ratio. A long one, from 1 to 10 minutes, is added as a YouTube link (q2964, updated Oct 7, 2026). The video must not contain advertising like "promotion," "discount," "today only," comparisons with other manufacturers or profanity. A video in a foreign language without Russian or Kazakh subtitles won't pass either (q3555).

Common mistakes with product photos on Kaspi

Downloading the supplier's photos. A watermark, a different bundle, sometimes a different color. A rejection is almost certain, and if not, a return from the buyer.

The main shot in a box. It seems more solid that way. Under Kaspi's rules it isn't: the main photo must show the product itself, in full.

Many people put a candle, a book or a cup next to it "for atmosphere." The moderator sees extra objects, and the buyer expects them in the parcel.

Shooting in the evening under a ceiling lamp. Yellow color, noise, smeared edges. You'll have to reshoot anyway.

Uploading a 48 MP shot as is. More than 5000 pixels on a side, and the file won't be accepted.

A separate story is deleting all the old photos at once and expecting the new ones to appear by themselves. Add first, then remove what's extra.

A batch without compression. Twenty photos of 6 MB each won't fit into the 100 MB limit in one ZIP and don't meet the "up to 1 MB per photo" requirement for bulk upload.

Checklist before uploading photos

  1. Main shot: the whole product, without the box, taking up most of the image.
  2. There's a back or side view, details and what's in the box.
  3. Nothing in the frame that doesn't ship to the buyer.
  4. A set is shown in full.
  5. No photo has watermarks or other shops' logos.
  6. Size from 500×500 to 5000×5000 px, file up to 25 MB.
  7. For bulk upload, photos up to 1 MB, archive up to 100 MB, names by SKU.
  8. If you use Kaspi AI, the generated shots have been checked by eye.
  9. New photos are added before the old ones are deleted.

How to automate the price once the card is ready

Good photos bring the buyer into the card, and the order goes to the seller who's first in it. The SaleScout Kaspi bot checks prices every 20 seconds, keeps you at the top of the product card and never goes below the minimum price you set. If a competitor raises their price or leaves the card, the bot raises your price to just below the next seller. How the fight for first place works in general is covered in the article how to get to the top of a Kaspi product card. You can try the bot free for 7 days, no card required.

Frequently asked questions about product photos for Kaspi

What photo size does Kaspi need?

From 500×500 to 5000×5000 pixels and up to 25 MB per file. A regular 12 MP phone shot works as is, while a 48 MP one will have to be downscaled.

How many photos can I upload to a Kaspi card?

From 1 to 15. In practice six to eight are enough for almost any product: overall view, back view, details, what's in the box, size.

Why did Kaspi reject my photos?

Usually because of a blurry shot, a watermark, the product in packaging on the main photo or extra objects next to it. Another reason is that you deleted photos and the edit wasn't applied.

Can I use the supplier's photos?

More no than yes. There's no separate ban, but the factory's shots usually carry its logo, and that's already a watermark. Plus they sometimes show a different bundle or color, and then you'll be arguing with the buyer instead.

How long does Kaspi take to review new photos?

Usually within a working day. Hence the tip: collect your edits and send them in one request rather than poking the card over every shot.

Can I make photos with Kaspi AI?

You can. You photograph the product, and Kaspi AI enhances the picture or draws a scene, for example on a model or in a room. Just look at the result carefully: if the neural network drew in a vase that isn't in the box, the moderator will notice.

What are the requirements for product videos on Kaspi?

If the clip is short, up to a minute, you upload the file itself, MP4 or MOV, and it must weigh up to 30 MB. A long review, up to 10 minutes, lives on YouTube, and the card gets a link. It's better to say nothing about discounts and promotions in the video, and not to bring in other brands for comparison either.
